 QUALITY MONITORING PROGRAM

Clinical IV Network maintains a comprehensive Quality Assurance and Quality Monitoring Program (QAQI) that reflects a dynamic process of problem identification and resolution.  Our clinical outcomes monitoring program is designed to monitor the high risk, high volume and potential problem-prone areas that are associated with infusion therapies.  Following this model allows Clinical IV Network to measure outcomes with the objective of improving the organizations performance and to provide an on-going process that is reviewed by our Professional Advisory Committee.

The systems developed to monitor client services are an essential part of the QAQI effort.  All prospective admissions are evaluated by a Clinical IV Network clinician prior to the start of service and assessed to identify service requirements, psycho/social needs and available resources to assure a successful course of therapy, whenever time permits. Daily operations meeting provides a forum for all team members and support staff to discuss individual needs.

To assist in the development of a safe and appropriate therapeutic regime, the CIVN pharmacists will offer advice on drug selection, dosing schedules, maintain automated patient specific medication profiles and perform Drug Utilization Scans to reduce the likelihood of therapeutic duplication and drug interactions.  Consultation services are tailored to meet the needs of the patient.

 Nursing Services

Clinical IV Network maintains its own staff of nurse clinicians who specialize in infusion therapy.  We provide an environment that supports on going education and credentialing of staff through specialty certification.  The clinicians work closely with physicians, nursing staff, and case managers to develop a safe and appropriate infusion plan of care including pre-discharge evaluations and education, up-to-date information regarding venous access, modes of drug delivery and equipment options with the overall goal of optimizing positive outcomes.  Nursing service and supervisory coverage are available around the clock to provide assistance, consultation and support 24 hours a day.

Clinical IV Network utilizes proven education methods and materials specific to the individual patient's therapies and administration modes.  IV education is based on INS standards for safety.

Clinical IV Network nurses average greater than five years infusion therapy experience.  Several of our staff have been recognized by the Infusion Nurse's Society for meeting their standards for certification.  Clinical IV Network supports and encourages their clinical staff to attain these certifications in infusion therapies.
